Cadoodle Description

The Cadoodle is a hybrid dog that is bred when you cross a Collie and a Poodle. They are intelligent, friendly, and local to their family. They are good with children and make good family dogs.

Since the Cadoodle is a hybrid dog, its personality may mimic a Poodle or a Collie or both.

Breed History

The origins of the Cadoodle are not fully known, but the breed either started in the United States or Great Britain. The Cadoodle is a mix of 50% Collie / 50% Poodle.

Breed Standards

Height:16-26 Inches (from ground to shoulder)
Weight:25-75 Pounds
Color:Coats can be multi-colored consisting of White, Grey, Blue, Tan, Black

Appearance

Cadoodles size can vary depending on the size of the Poodle used to breed. A Cadoodle can either be small to medium sized.

Cadoodle Temperament

Cadoodles are great family dogs. They will protect their loved ones, but are also great around children and other pets. Some Cadoodles can be shy and will need to be watched when they are next to strangers.

Cadoodle Health

The Cadoodle has a life expectancy of 12-14 years. Cadoodles (like many hybrid dogs) do not have very many serious health issues.

Maintenance

Grooming Requirements – Cadoodles need to have regular grooming to prevent their coats from becoming entangled and matted. However, grooming is dependant upon which breed the Cadoodle inherits it's coat from. Cadoodles which inherit the coat traits from Poodles require more grooming than Cadoodles that inherit coat traits from Collies.

Exercise Requirements – Cadoodles require regular exercise and will need one to two walks daily to stay happy. They are fairly active and need to be both physically and mentally exercised.

Living Requirements – Cadoodles are great family dogs and do well in both small apartments and outside fenced in areas.
